Evening College (Since 1970)

For Working Students & Executives

The Jesuits are doing something holy, something sacrosanct by working in the field of education. Education gives one the ultimate human value. They have made excellent contributions not only in India but the world over.”

                                                                                  Dr. Abdul Kalam

St. Vincent (Night) College of Commerce was started in 1970 by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), a Christian Religious Order founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540. Since its inception, the Society has been active in the field of education throughout the world. Worldwide, the Society of Jesus is responsible for over 665 Educational Institutions in about 65 countries, engaging the efforts of approximately 70,000 teachers and educating approximately 15,00,000 students every year. The Jesuits could undoubtedly be called the global leaders of education.
In India, the Society of Jesus is responsible for over 110 High Schools, 24 University Colleges and 14 Technical Institutes. These institutions are part of the Catholic Church's effort to share in the country's educational undertaking. This effort, though particularly responsible towards the Christian Community, has always served the entire nation. Students of these institutions belong to every social class, community and linguistic group. They aim at making their own contribution towards a transformation of the present-day social conditions, so that principles of social justice, equality of opportunity, genuine freedom, and respect for religious and moral values, enshrined in the Constitution of India, may prevail, and the possibility of living a fully human existence may be open before all.

St. Vincent (Night) College of Commerce is affiliated to the University of Pune. It was set up primarily to offer an opportunity to working youth, who wished to pursue their studies while continuing to work. It was started initially as a degree college to which, later, were added the junior college and the post-graduate sections. It adheres to the Jesuit hallmark of an all-round, value-based and disciplined approach to education. Over the years St. Vincent College has emerged as a center of excellence in the field of commerce education.
